Brief Glimpse of Fame

So for those of you who turned in to see my glorious moment of fame, you may have been sadly dissapointed to find that they skipped the most of it... We did get a "on guard for thee!" and fireworks... but that appears to be it...

Regardless, I got to sing in front of a large crowd (estimated to be 55k... even though a lot of people weren;t in their seats by the singing of the anthem) and we didnt botch it!

Well, it was hard to tell if we botched it... The mass cheers of the crowd started somewhere around "our home a native land"... Yay fun times!

But thats not the interesting part of my day... Prepare to be excited!!!

Last night I went out to the birthday of two of my friends... but since I knew I needed to be up early and ready to go for the national anthem... So I wasn;t drinking very much... instead i filled my stomach with red bull (which was on special)...

Needless to say, sleep was a little bit of a struggle...

I ended up showering before I went to bed (as to allow mea few extra minutes of sleep in the morning) and finally tucked myself into bed for a power nap at about 7:15... Sad...

Needless to say, waking up was TROUBLE! My alarm clock intigrated itself into my dreams, and I slept comfortably through its blaring evilness... For 2.5 hours...

I woke up more than 45 minutes AFTER I was supposed to be at the stadium for rehersal...

I paniced... I frantically started dialing everyone I knew with a car... Well... not really, the first person i called answered...

Next, I needed to find a way to get onto the field along with the rest of the choir...

You see, they dont let just anyone waltz around on the grass... And th choir had only been given a handful of passes, with the expectation that we'd show up at abou the same time...

So I try phoning the person in choir who i know has a cell phone and talks on it religiously...

And he didnt answer! He didnt bloody well answer... I almost had an aneurism on the spot...

So I log on msn, and start asking everyone in edmonton to the phone numbers of people in choir... get a few leads and start dialing... no answer; no answer; no answer...

I panic and run to the washroom to get prepped waiting, of course, for someone to call me back...

Thankfully I dont wait too long...

"we're not at the stadium"

ARGH!!!!!

My ride is now at my bedroom door ready to drive me, I am only partially dressed, I still have bed head, and I want to sceam...

I'm running in circles...

"Where are you?" I ask, trying to hide my panic...

"We're on our way to McD's for lunch."

"Don't Move!!!"

I am ready to go in less than 8 seconds and I sprint out the door to my awaiting ride... And off to meet the choir members...

Everything ended up going well... I arrived with plenty of time before gametime, managed to stuff my face, watch most of the game, and throw a wicked fun post-game shindig...

On a side note, I think I might enter for a chance to win a cross country trip... Seems easy enough... So now I need to try to get a bunch of self taken artsy pics of edmonton...

Dear lord, you're a good story-teller.
especially when they're frantic stories about you.
