To Do

So I need to buy a cd, watch a movie, make it to rehersal and learn to take directions from a new conductor today...

Should be fun!

Check out the sacred music festival tonight if you have the time and cash to spend!

RHPS

So whats more fun than going to a theatrical production?

Going to a theatrical production put on at a gay bar dressed as the main character and shouting things at the actors on stage...

Yes my friends, I went to Rocky Horror picture show... dressed as a attempted Frank'n'Furter...

My two problems though were as follows: my costume was incomplete... I didnt have fishnets, I didnt have a wig, I wore a miniskirt instead of manties... and problem 2, it was WAY too cold to be parading through the streets of edmonton wearing nothing but a miniskirt and a corset (and shoes and underwear)

Oh well...

Tonight I'm a cowboy

Recovering

So I'm two steps closer to being a mature and responsible adult... I am officially starting to repay my student loans...

Yup, I will now be making $200 monthly payments, and, with hope, I will be able to repay the entirity of my loan back in 72 months (with a final payment on Nov 25th 2011 of $8.64)

This should be fun...

I didnt get very much sleep today... actually, thats an understatement and a half.. I got 2 hours of sleep today...

Stupid labs...

The lady next to me while I was doing my lab report on excel was HITTING HER KEYS AS HARD AS SHE COULD WHILE SHE TYPED

Not that thats annoying, or anything, but I wanted to beat her head in...

I'm trying desperately to focus and shes beating the keyboard like its going out of style...

I'm also missing my sticky-tac... I have a bunch of things I want to put on my door, but I can;t because I dont have any sticky-tac....

One of the high school kids asked me over msn if I would like to autograph his penis... Well, actually I volunteered... But he offered me a smoke if I came and did it...

These are the types of conversations I get into that are going to get me fired...

Not tha i'm too worried about getting fired... I would like to think that I'm doing a good job... I'm just having a rough time keeping the inappropriatness in check...

Me? Never!!!

Oh... and that thing I said I was going to do but I couldn't talk about it?

I did it, it was totally worth it, but I still can't tell you what it is...

I dont think I want to go to my class in the morning... *Sigh*

7 hours is not near enough time to sleep to prepare for a 70 minute chemistry lecture...

*sigh*

Well, time for sleep

Story of my life

If only I had started my lab three hours earlier... I could have been done by now...

If only I had written down the mass, I wouldnt have to lie about how much magnesium is in that bloody thing...

If only I had brought a matching cloloured pen, I could forge my answers into something a lot more realistic than the numbers I actually achieved...

If only the amount of calcium dissolved in each 50ml sample of water didn't vary between 114ppm and 121ppm...

If only my professor were reading this right now, understanding fully the hatred this lab has instilled uppon my heart...

If only...

I wonder

Just got out of the shower... and got to wondering... how much of the mold is toxic...

Not that there a re large amounts... but I'm pretty sure it is mold...

Lessons Over Drinks

So if I invited you out tonight and you didnt come, you missed out on a good time...

I learned that beer bottles are not very stuturally sound, and if you make mention of broken glass ditzy waitresses will not connect *glass cut <---> lawsuit* and offer you free drinks... We should sue...

I learned that Israel and Qatar could potentially become quite close, should Jordan keep out of everything... Apparently, mexicans seem to think theres a lot more in a name then there may very well be (but maybe the palestinians might be a little put off)...

Jenn smokes a lot when people complain about Canada... But don't worry, mexico isn;t even the largest economy in latin america...

And finally I learned that headliner means nothing... If only I could remember the name of the opening band... that would be great...

Good night...

By Request

By request, here is Everyone is a Little Bit Racist:

Princeton:
Say, Kate, can I ask you a question?

Kate Monster:
Sure!

Princeton:
Well, you know Trekkie Monster upstairs?

Kate Monster:
Uh huh.

Princeton:
Well, he's Trekkie Monster, and you're Kate Monster.

Kate Monster:
Right.

Princeton:
You're both Monsters.

Kate Monster:
Yeah.

Princeton:
Are you two related?

Kate Monster:
What?! Princeton, I'm surprised at you! I find that racist!

Princeton:
Oh, well, I'm sorry! I was just asking!

Kate Monster:
Well, it's a touchy subject.
No, not all Monsters are related.
What are you trying say, huh?
That we all look the same to you?
Huh, huh, huh?

Princeton:
No, no, no, not at all. I'm sorry,
I guess that was a little racist.

Kate Monster:
I should say so. You should be much more
careful when you're talking about the
sensitive subject of race.

Princeton:
Well, look who's talking!

Kate Monster:
What do you mean?

Princeton:
What about that special Monster School you told me about?

Kate Monster:
What about it?

Princeton:
Could someone like me go there?

Kate Monster:
No, we don't want people like you-

Princeton:
You see?!

You're a little bit racist.

Kate Monster:
Well, you're a little bit too.

Princeton:
I guess we're both a little bit racist.

Kate Monster:
Admitting it is not an easy thing to do...

Princeton:
But I guess it's true.

Kate Monster:
Between me and you,
I think

Both:
Everyone's a little bit racist
Sometimes.
Doesn't mean we go
Around committing hate crimes.
Look around and you will find
No one's really color blind.
Maybe it's a fact
We all should face
Everyone makes judgments
Based on race.

Princeton:
Now not big judgments, like who to hire
or who to buy a newspaper from -

Kate Monster:
No!

Princeton:
No, just little judgments like thinking that Mexican
busboys should learn to speak goddamn English!

Kate Monster:
Right!

Both:
Everyone's a little bit racist
Today.
So, everyone's a little bit racist
Okay!
Ethinic jokes might be uncouth,
But you laugh because
They're based on truth.
Don't take them as
Personal attacks.
Everyone enjoys them -
So relax!

Princeton:
All right, stop me if you've heard this one.

Kate Monster:
Okay!

Princeton:
There's a plan going down and there's only
one paracute. And there's a rabbi, a priest...

Kate Monster:
And a black guy!

Gary Coleman:
Whatchoo talkin' 'bout Kate?

Kate Monster:
Uh...

Gary Coleman:
You were telling a black joke!

Princeton:
Well, sure, Gary, but lots of people tell black jokes.

Gary Coleman:
I don't.

Princeton:
Well, of course you don't - you're black!
But I bet you tell Polack jokes, right?

Gary Coleman:
Well, sure I do. Those stupid Polacks!

Princeton:
Now, don't you think that's a little racist?

Gary Coleman:
Well, damn, I guess you're right.

Kate Monster:
You're a little bit racist.

Gary Coleman:
Well, you're a little bit too.

Princeton:
We're all a little bit racist.

Gary Coleman:
I think that I would
Have to agree with you.

Princeton/Kate Monster:
We're glad you do.

Gary Coleman:
It's sad but true!
Everyone's a little bit racist -

All right!

Kate Monster:
All right!

Princeton:
All right!

Gary Coleman:
All right!
Bigotry has never been
Exclusively white

All:
If we all could just admit
That we are racist a little bit,
Even though we all know
That it's wrong,
Maybe it would help us
Get along.

Princeton:
Oh, Christ do I feel good.

Gary Coleman:
Now there was a fine upstanding black man!

Princeton:
Who?

Gary Coleman:
Jesus Christ.

Kate Monster:
But, Gary, Jesus was white.

Gary Coleman:
No, Jesus was black.

Kate Monster:
No, Jesus was white.

Gary Coleman:
No, I'm pretty sure that Jesus was black-

Princeton:
Guys, guys...Jesus was Jewish!

Brian:
Hey guys, what are you laughing about?

Gary Coleman:
Racism!

Brian:
Cool.

Christmas Eve:
BRIAN! Come back here!
You take out lecycuraburs!

Princeton:
What's that mean?

Brian:
Um, recyclables.
Hey, don't laugh at her!
How many languages do you speak?

Kate Monster:
Oh, come off it, Brian!
Everyone's a little bit racist.

Brian:
I'm not!

Princeton:
Oh no?

Brian:
Nope!

How many Oriental wives
Have you got?

Christmas Eve:
What? Brian!

Princeton:
Brian, buddy, where you been?
The term is Asian-American!

Christmas Eve:
I know you are no
Intending to be
But calling me Oriental -
Offensive to me!

Brian:
I'm sorry, honey, I love you.

Christmas Eve:
And I love you.

Brian:
But you're racist, too.

Christmas Eve:
Yes, I know.
The Jews have all
The money
And the whites have all
The power.
And I'm always in taxi-cab
With driver who no shower!

Princeton:
Me too!

Kate Monster:
Me too!

Gary Coleman:
I can't even get a taxi!

All:
Everyone's a little bit racist
It's true.
But everyone is just about
As racist as you!
If we all could just admit
That we are racist a little bit,
And everyone stopped being
So PC
Maybe we could live in -
Harmony!

Christmas Eve:
Evlyone's a ritter bit lacist!

A Real Post (to forget about the last one)

So a few things are malfunctioning in dorm as of recent...

I thinkI made mention of the fact we havent had hot water in a week... Do you know how exciting it is to take ice cold showers every night? It's a beautiful thing to have your testes retract completely inside your body, and have your brain all but shut down as you lie on the floor convulsing from shock from the pure cold...

The TV has been all but out of comission for the last two weeks... I think the VCR did it, but I'm not going to fix it (as I will probibly only manage to reduce the number of stations we are currently getting even more)... We can't watch the daily show or family guy!!! NO FAMILY GUY!!!

The washer machine is in the process of being fixed... You might be thinking "thats good, it's being fixed!" but this is not the case... We are loathing the day they came in to fix it... Up until last thursday, the washer machine was free... Free free free... Of course it needed to be fixed, concordia wasn't sucking the blood directly from our bodies... Leeches, I say, leeches... Isn't bad enough that we have to pay for extra forks at the cafeteria (even though we eat 3 meals a day there) ... but the one thing that actually manages to bring us a semblence of happiness (1/2 price laundry) they rush in to 'save the day' and bring it back up to full price... Oh! Best part! there is now only 1 dryer for 37 guys until the dryer is fixed... Line-ups anyone?

And tonights little addition to the broke-down list: Microwave... I mean, really, who needs food after 630pm... not any of the guys in dorm... It's dead... Dead as Christopher Reeves (ah ha ha to tasteless humour)... Of course, I found this out AFTER I sepnt 10 minutes waiting for my KD to cook... When the mac came out hard and cold, I figured there was a problem... especially after 10 minutes..

I'm sure there will be more things to add to this list very soon... But at least they fixed the hole in the roof in the hallway, I think... after 3 years...

Ignoring the Inevitable

I can;t really tell you what it is I am disregarding, as I seem to have blocked it from my mind entirely, but it is there. The proof is in the numbers:

Where P= the probablity I am forgetting something; n= Me; Z = sleep; and the rest being uncontrolable constants I can't even begin to explain to the likes of you (apologies to all the science students reading this, you would probably understand this, but I dont want to confuse the arts students)

Regardless, I think I am becomming quite apathetic towards everyone and everything... Well, assides from things which satisfy my own selfish desires for entertainment.

I care because I am trained to care.

I suppose that's as real as it's ever been, I don't think I have sincere emotion a lot of the time.

Stimulus --> Thought progress --> Robotic response of emotion.

I am happy, I am sad, I am hungry...

Perhaps it's just the sleep getting to me, or perhaps its November creeping in a little bit early this year... I hate November!

STUPID NOVEMBER! THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE!

Perhaps I'm being a little histrionic, and this is not how I'll feel in the morning... Or perhaps I don't feel at all, and in my non-sleep induced state, i am simply letting my fingers do the typing... Does this blog even exist? Do I exist?

How many people reading this have never met me in person? For all they know, this is the product of some super genius computer program which has been taught to have humour (and spelling errors)...

"Oh, but I know people who know you!"

And what if this is simply a product of the collective psyche of all those twisted individuals disturbed enough to think up a person like me...

And you wonder why I'm not a philosphy student... This is why... I'd be the annoying kid in class making up random assumptions pertaining to nothing, leading to nowhere, and followed by no one... Myself included...

I mean people who would listen to me far enough to actually think that i am a computer program deserve the cyanide laced kool-aid I serve them...

Well, at least thats what I would have you believe, I mean I am a super genius computer, and what better way to throw you off the trail then to ramble incessantly about nothing...

The genius of it all...

I fear that those of you still reading this far will never read my blog again, for fear that I will go on a mindless rant such as this in the future...

I make no promises, as this is non chemically induced... well, thats a lie, thisn is caffeine and KD induced... There are a lot of chemicals in KD...

card boards a chemical, isn;t it?

regardless...

For all I know, the rest of my posts will be of this sort... I hope not... but they could be...

Scary thought...

I should go... I stopped making sence 35 paragraphs ago...

Bachelor of Arts

I was referred to this song... I've heard it... It is real:

What Do You Do With a B.A. in English

What do you do with a B.A. in English,
What is my life going to be?
Four years of college and plenty of knowledge,
Have earned me this useless degree.

I can't pay the bills yet,
'Cause I have no skills yet,
The world is a big scary place.

But somehow I can't shake,
The feeling I might make,
A difference,
To the human race.

Brief Glimpse of Fame

So for those of you who turned in to see my glorious moment of fame, you may have been sadly dissapointed to find that they skipped the most of it... We did get a "on guard for thee!" and fireworks... but that appears to be it...

Regardless, I got to sing in front of a large crowd (estimated to be 55k... even though a lot of people weren;t in their seats by the singing of the anthem) and we didnt botch it!

Well, it was hard to tell if we botched it... The mass cheers of the crowd started somewhere around "our home a native land"... Yay fun times!

But thats not the interesting part of my day... Prepare to be excited!!!

Last night I went out to the birthday of two of my friends... but since I knew I needed to be up early and ready to go for the national anthem... So I wasn;t drinking very much... instead i filled my stomach with red bull (which was on special)...

Needless to say, sleep was a little bit of a struggle...

I ended up showering before I went to bed (as to allow mea few extra minutes of sleep in the morning) and finally tucked myself into bed for a power nap at about 7:15... Sad...

Needless to say, waking up was TROUBLE! My alarm clock intigrated itself into my dreams, and I slept comfortably through its blaring evilness... For 2.5 hours...

I woke up more than 45 minutes AFTER I was supposed to be at the stadium for rehersal...

I paniced... I frantically started dialing everyone I knew with a car... Well... not really, the first person i called answered...

Next, I needed to find a way to get onto the field along with the rest of the choir...

You see, they dont let just anyone waltz around on the grass... And th choir had only been given a handful of passes, with the expectation that we'd show up at abou the same time...

So I try phoning the person in choir who i know has a cell phone and talks on it religiously...

And he didnt answer! He didnt bloody well answer... I almost had an aneurism on the spot...

So I log on msn, and start asking everyone in edmonton to the phone numbers of people in choir... get a few leads and start dialing... no answer; no answer; no answer...

I panic and run to the washroom to get prepped waiting, of course, for someone to call me back...

Thankfully I dont wait too long...

"we're not at the stadium"

ARGH!!!!!

My ride is now at my bedroom door ready to drive me, I am only partially dressed, I still have bed head, and I want to sceam...

I'm running in circles...

"Where are you?" I ask, trying to hide my panic...

"We're on our way to McD's for lunch."

"Don't Move!!!"

I am ready to go in less than 8 seconds and I sprint out the door to my awaiting ride... And off to meet the choir members...

Everything ended up going well... I arrived with plenty of time before gametime, managed to stuff my face, watch most of the game, and throw a wicked fun post-game shindig...

On a side note, I think I might enter for a chance to win a cross country trip... Seems easy enough... So now I need to try to get a bunch of self taken artsy pics of edmonton...

TV Appearance

I'm gonna be on TV: singing O Canada at the Roughriders / Eskimos game...

Saturday the 15th at 1pm Edmonton time...

Fire Alarms

So I guess I shouldnt complain, as I had lots of warning that it was comming, but today we had a fire alarm...

But, as you will understand shortly, fire alarms are very bad for my health...

Reason number 1: On wednesdays, I dont have class until 4pm... I like to sleep in... subsequently, I know I get to sleep in, so needless to say i tend to stay up a little late tuesday evenings... I think I was in bed by 7am... (I should add that although I knew the alarm was comming, we were not told a specific date... so I couldnt have just wrote it on my calender to go to bed earlier this particlar tuesday)

Reason number 2: I am on duty on wednesday, making it my responsibility to ensure all the dormies in Founders are outside in a respectable amount of time... When the alarm went off (after scaring the crap out of me) it sent me into RA mission mode... I proceeded to go right to task of clearing the rooms... I got halfway out of my room before I remembered that I had just been sleeping... And that I may sleep sans clothing... No one was standing there, so it wasn't nearly as embarassing as it could have been...

which leads to reason number 3: Now I was left trying to get pants on while half asleep, embarassed, hurried and having an alarm blaring in my ear... Did I mention this is before an ounce of caffeine hit my system?

reason number 4: Now I had the task of removing all the people in dorm who didnt want to be removed... They were trying to sleep... Most woke up and left without incident after a gentle shaking by myself... But one did not (not a bright idea when you refer back to reason number 3)... I sternly reminded, using colourful language, that it was a very large fine if you were caught ignoring a fire alarm... I'm not sure if he was more afraid of the fine, or of me... Either way, he went outside...

reason number 5: It was cold! and since I was in half-sleep-RA-mode, I forgot to put on shoes and a proper shirt (it was just a tee)... Which would have been better if it had not been 5C outside... and we had to stand around for a 10 minutes...

reason number 6: When I am abruptly woken up, and I am sleep deprived I often get sudden and severe bloody nose... Today was no exception... Except I couldnt just run to the washroom to grab some tp... And I didnt want to draw atention to myself **disclaimer**: following lines not for the weak of heart** SO rather than bleed all over myself, or run around the building to the 'first aid' area, I just tiled my head back slightly and let the blood leak down my throat***

**end disclaimer**

So that was fun!

Did I ever mention how much I love my job?

gnight

Mid-Morning Adventure

So today was an eventful day.

By eventful I, of course, mean boring and sleep deprived... and by day I, of course, mean period of semi-conciousness...

Such is my life...

I neded up studying for my exam after I wrote my last entry... Followed by breakfast, and the writing of the exam...

That was fun...

To top it all off, I borrowed a calculator from one of the dormies, and he had it set in some weird physics setting... That didnt allow me to get decimal answers... Which I need when the question says something along the lines of "what is this answer to five decimal places?"

I spent the majourity of the exam time trying to figure out how to get the stupid thing to work properly...

If you've ever used a TI 89 titanium, you know what sort of situation I was in...

For those of you who dont know...

Take the TI 83+ (the standard calculator when I was in high school). Take all of the buttons, move them from their current location to a, more or less, random configuration across a larger button pad. Take all of the settings and arrange them under headings and sub-headings in a difficult to manuver menu screen. Arbitrarily abb. ran. wor. so you ca. under. wha. the. su. to be [abbreviate random words so you cant understand what theyre supposed to mean]...

Now- on zero sleep and in the stressful situation of sitting at a desk with a 10 page chemistry exam that requires a heck of a lot of complicated mathematic calculations knowing full well there is a large chance you may not get your calculator to pump out anything resembling what your professor would be willing to give you marks for- try to fix the calculator...

I should get a bonus of 10% for not breaking down into tears...

But, alas, I figured it out (I changed every setting one by one, and back until I found the one that turned things to the way I wanted)

Turns out I needed to put it to approximate answers (in hind sight, quite logical, I suppose, as decimals do tend to be approximate... I'll explain further in private if you dont understand)

Lab today went really well... I couldnt figure out why some numbers werent working... Turns out I was reading the buret wrong...

Stupid girl didn't fail me today...

Her question de jour "Do I have to weigh all of these?"

These, referres to the eight settings of KI (Potassium Iodide for you non-science people) which explicitly said in the instruction book said needed to be 2 grams...

I dont know about you, but I don't think I could freehand 2 grams of KI... Especially knowing that it's part of a larger reaction that allows you to get the results that need to be acurate to withing 5ppm in order to pass the lab...

Btw ppm is quite narrow window...

eg. Metro Vancouver has a population of 2 059 499... If you were to count them and come to the conclusion there were, in fact 2 059 512 people in Vancouver, you would fail... as that would be 6ppm (or so)

Again, would you want to be the one to eye the sample?

Well... I need to get to bed... I'm planning an adventure in the morning... I can't tell you, I might get in trouble (I don't need to make the same mistake Regan did)

Sleepless Nights

So i'm back from Bonnyville...

What an experience... Squirrely-boy's family is almost as interesting as he is... I can totally see where he gets his little quirks from...

The town itself is... umm... redneck-hockey town...

I had the pleasure of doing an impromptu pub crawl around the town... I hadn't slept in two days when we left, so it was a good start for a night of drinking...

Rubbing arms with redneck hockey players... I was in my natural environment... We all know how much I love rednecks and hockey players...

They kept their distance from me, and I from them, so we managed to leave unscathed to head to the more "disco" like bar... I was tempted to bust a groove on the dance floor... Unfortunately I forgot my two-stepping shoes, for blaring through the speakers for the majority of the time I was present was country music... And not the good type... It was the reddneck type...

Two days of no sleep, combined with a small amount of alcohol, combined with a long walk home... Needless to say I didnt have any trouble getting to sleep... Or staying that way...

When I was finally awoken at 4:30pm (yes... I slept for the better part of 14 hours) I felt a little embarassed...

I got dressed and headed upstairs to apologise... only to find out that 'Mom' was just glad that I had not died in my sleep as she had suspected...

We ate, and then headed off went to (catholic) mass... There was a little bit of shock when I knew most of the order of service... Silly catholics... just cause us lutherans are heretics doesnt mean that we don't try to emulate you... I went in with an open mind... But I was sort of shunned during communion... I respect the fact that I'm from one of the heathen churches, and that we can't proclaim a unity when there isn't one... But for the love of God, give the lutheran his blessing...

I seriously thought I was guranteed a sign of the cross on the forehead... Apparently I was wrong... I got hurried through the line... no blessing for me...

So to spite them, I refused to worship Mary with them for the rest of the service... (I jest I jest... you dont worship her... you venerate her... right?)

Service was followed by sleeping... We woke up just intime to have turkey breakfast (in order to get back to Edmonton in any amount of decent time we needed to leave B'Ville by 1pm... factor in eating/cleanup, we started 'dinner' at 11am... or so...)

Needless to say, staying concious for the trip back to the chuck was a little hard...

But i managed to do it...

And then convince some of the dormies to go and celebrate thanksgiving the proper way...

Well, at least 'proper' like my family taught it...

Thats right, we went out to get smashed...

And I may have succeeded... a lot...

I havent worked my diaphragm like that since 1st year....

Anyways... I have an exam in a few hours... I should go study some more...

Yay

I officially have 5 days until my next class!

Yay!

No thinking for me for the next little while... Not that thats a stretch or anything...

I'm excited... 17 hours till B'Ville...

If something happens tonight I'll update...

French Films

So I bought a few movies back in August... I knew theyd be a few weeks to ship, so I had them sent directly to Edmonton (rather than having my 'rents ship them out for me...)

They arrived last week, I'm to lazy to check if I blogged their arrival...

Regardless, theyre here, and I watched them...

Synopsis

Nightwatch: Russian horror movie- I've been looking forward to this movie since its existence was brought to my attention some nine months ago... But after rumours of Fox butchering the fuck out of it, I decided to buy the unedited russian version... It did not dissappoint! Plot, Acting, and cool fight scenes so desperately needed in western movies... Theres a reason this is the highest grossing movie in the eastern european world (a claim I've seen, but not necessarily justified... so don't bite my head off if i'm wrong)...

The good news: its based on a three part novel by a prolific Russian writer... Think LotR with cooler accents...

Better news: the second movie is well underproduction even before the release of the first movie in the 'western' world... I think its almost ready to go to theatres...

Bad news: Fox has rights for the third movie (I think exclusive)... So I expect the butchering their doing to the american release of the first movie will be ingrained into the third movie *sigh*

B13: This movie is french and set in near future paris (2013 if I remember correctly)... Premise is as such: rather than solve the problems of urban blight, a large wall is built around a large swath of land on the outskirts of Paris... All the poor people are shipped in and, more or less, left to fend themselves... Drug lords and pimps take control, a plot is introduced, and 90 minutes of the most jaw dropping martial arts and chase scenes (and martial art chase scenes) ensue...

Good news: The uneducated people, and the ballers, even have subtitles that are getto-ized... I hope it was intentional... I dont think I could count the number of times 'is' was spelled 'iz'... but not for all the characters...

Bad News: ghetto subtitles were sometimes hard to follow...

Good news: did I mention, jaw dropping martial arts? Even I appreciated it... I dont appreciate guys jumping and kicking... I appreciated this...

Haute Tension: There is a reason this movie came free with the other two movies... Unexplained nudity, a ten minute masterbation scene, random shower scenes... and of course, since it is a 'horror' movie, an oral sex scene starring a decapitated head... Don't laugh, Im serious... With a sawed off head... Also featuring: freakish amounts of blood (I dont know if it was intended to be funny), bad dubbing (no subtitles... but the voice of the little boy would have made you wish there had been), predictable chase scenes, and a plot twist that would make M. Night Shamylan roll over in his grave... If Mr M. Night was in a grave... Which he would be if he watched this movie... he would die on the spot... and then commence rolling...

Bad News: terrible TERRIBLE movie... awful awful awful! Bad eww

/vomit on

Good News: The movie case is obviously foreign, so I look really cultured with it sitting in my collection... Oh, and it was free... Very very free...

Bad News: my gag reflex kicks in every time I look over my shoulder and see the movie sitting there...

So theres my movie list...

1 day until B'Ville!

Eternally Debating the Cause of Sleep

So... funny story...

I was a little bit thirsty this evening, and decided that a nice hot chocolate would be in order...

But, since I have a milk frother/steamer, I decided to steam my milk, add the hot chocolate mix, and enjoy...

This went really well the first time, and I had the most amazing rich and creamy hot chocolate I've had in a while...

Please, sit back, and take a moment to enjoy that which was my hot chocolate...

In fact, my first sip was so splendiferous, that i knew I would have a second the moment I once again had an empty cup to put it in...

Needless to say, I knew I was comming right back, so i may not have cleaned my milk frother as well as I could have...

A few minutes went by (perhaps closer to 20) and I returned to my machine in order to prepare a second cup... In addition... Due to all of my oooo-ing and awwww-ing, one of the other dormies requested a soothing cup o' chocolate as well...

No problem

I decided to prep his first, I poured out my milk into a cup and put it under the steamer to let it work its magic...

Nothing...

I decide that it probibly just needs to heat up before its ready to go...

I check my msn.. A friend had something to say, I respond... Back to the steamer...

Still nothing...

I check to make sure it is on...

I scald my finger on the hot metal...

Why no steam???

I turn the machine onto espresso mode... Steam is forced through the empty filter towards the coffee pot at an alarming rate... I turn it back to steamer...

A little bit of steam escapes...

"that will have to do" I think to myself... I set my makeshift frothing cup under the steamer...

Thus begins what would set out to be the longest steaming of milk in the history of specialty coffee... I probibly could have rubbed my hands together and achieved more frothy goodness...

I turn the machine off, and set out to find the cause of my problem...

I start unscrewing things (dont worry, the instructions explicitly say that steam is not able to escape when the machine is turned off, unless you open the water storage... which i had no intention of doing)...

I remind myself a little to late that the metal is hot and Im not supposed to touch it...

I enventually find the source of the problem... The milk from the last frothing, due to the heat associated with the process, had baked itself into the steam releasing nozzle...

I clean it, reattach it, and then return to my hot chocolate making process...

Nothing could have prepared me for what happened next...

I place the makeshift frothing cup under the frothing unit... This is where I tell you my frothing cup is a retired wine glass (hint: round bottom)

I switch on the power...

In a show of brute force, the frother tells me "YOU NEED TO CLEAN ME EVERY TIME! ASSHOLE!"

Steam shoots out of nozzle at an unmanageable speed, knocking the cup out of my hand...

Thankfully Im not stupid, and the cup only falls a few inches to the table top, and lands right side up, and is held in a stand up position by the frother...

The steam, as if to say "Yeah right; I'm going to let you off that easy!"

The steam (which is still shooting out at unimagineable speeds) rounds the curve at the bottom of the glass, and uses it as a ramp in which to shoot all of the milk ~ 4' into the air...

The milk now sits in droves upon my desk, floor, and in the crevacies in my wall...

I wanted to die...

At this point in time, I'm in hysterics, but the steam is still shooting out laying a fine mist of water across everything on the table...

I eventually turn off the machine... Mop up the milk, and then return to the dormies room pretending nothing happened...

I hope you're all laughing...

I hope my room doesnt smell like sour milk tomorrow...

2 days 'till Bonnyville

Speakers Corner

It's been a while, but the guys who brought you "Merry Thursday" and "the Great Escape" are back to their normal hijinx...

Tonights public art project: Speakers Corner

So, you remember when you were little kids, and you tied string to two cans/cups/things and then pulled them really taught and talked into them... And were amazed that you could hear the voices with relative clarity?

Well, thats what theyve gone and done... To their widowframe, they have taped a cup, fed with string, connected to another cup... Which is on a stick next to the path outside the student centre...

Now this is all fine and dandy, but to take things up a notch, they have put a recorder into the cup in their room, which has been tested and is able to record speaking which is done into the cup on the ground...

I kid you not...

I'm actually quite amazed at the little set up...

I encourage you, if you have the time and ability to make it to concordia tomorrow, come and make your annonomous contribution to recorded history...

I'm now even more excited to go to B-Ville for the weekend... I mean, his parents fostered this kid... I don't think he turned out like this by themselves...

Ah ha ha!

Econ Bites Back

So as punishment for my missing econ last week, tonights econ class was twice as boring as anything I have ever expirienced ever...

I wanted to die...

Needless to say, I took an extra long break when he dismissed us for 15 minutes...

Much to my pain, he waited until I got back to restart the lecture about how much he hates the way the government is managing the heritage fund (alberta people aren't confused right now... so if you would like to know what the heritage fund is, you're probibly not from alberta...)

I don't feel like writing right now... But feel free to check back again soon... I'll probibly be more motivated later...

Procrastinating

I don't want to do my lab tonight...

I dont want to do it tomorrow...

The sad thing is, I know it will only take me like 45 minutes to do it, and I know I need to hand it in tomorrow evening... But that doesnt make me want to do it any more...

*sigh*

I enjoy procrastinating too much, it seems...

SO I managed to drink a lot of starbucks this weekend.. that makes me happy...

I also managed to not sleep far too much...

Tonight isn't helping either...

So one of the guys announced to everyone that he's taking a guy home for thanksgiving in order to meet the 'rents... This came as quite a shock to everyone, especially as he started going off on how attractive the guy is, how funny he is, how firm his buttocks are, and how nice his new pants are...

Needless to say, he was talking about me...

I'm really excited, I get to go somewhere for thanksgiving for the first time in forever (well... not entirely true, my friends have been EXCEPTIONALLY loving to me over thanksgiving the last few years... Even if I do have a tendancy to throw up as soon as Im done eating...)

So, I'm going to Bonnyville...

Some Bonnyville Stats:

Town Size: 5709 (8399 in the metro area)

Located: 240 kms from Edmonton, Alberta, on Highway #28

By-Laws: No excessive noise, Garbage Pick-Up is Cancelled due to extreme weather, Cats over the age of 8 months (or cats that appear to have attained an age over 8 months) must be registered, there is a $500 fine for taking an innappropriate route with a vehicle containing dangerous goods.

Sounds like the perfect place to raise a family...

I plan on having fun anyways... I dont care what anyone says...

Thats my news for the night...

Oh and some things came up with high school kids that was pretty stressful to deal with, but I know i'm not allowed to talk about them cuz of the confidentiality agreement I signed in order to obtain my current job...

But i did deal with it... And its not streful anymore...

I should write a book...

Saturday Passes Like the Setting of the Sun on a Cold Winters Day

I don;t know whats up with the title...

I am bored... Eric is sleeping... And I dont feel like leaving my room cuz a few of the dormies are annoying me tonight...

On the plus side, Im using eric as a reason for them to stay out of my room...

That seems to work well...

I think I'll invite eric over every night...

So... My chem exam went well, I think...

Ill find out soon enough...

Yu-Gi-Oh is turning into the sport of choice in dorm...

And now I am left anxiously awaiting todays edition of Post Secrets...

So very addictive...

And for the record: I knew it; I was right; Told you so!

Free

So I went in for my consultation! Yay!

It'll be about three weeks before I get to see the design (and then make any adjustments I would like)...

If it's a gooder, then I can book my appointment then...

Woot Woot!

Oh, and I got new jewelry... I got a curved barbell for my rook piercing...

Whilst I was sprawled across the table waiting for him to be ready to change my jewellry, he asked me what I wanted to get pierced next...

I commented, tongue in cheek, that he needed to tell me how many more referrals I needed to make before my next piercing was free...

He retorted that that was the reason for inquiry...

So my next piercing is free (I'm gonna wait a while so that I can heal my tatt and my rook properly before I get a new piercing)

Oh, and my russian horror movie came in yesterday!

Yay!!

It's so good, and it was a cliffhanger ending (because its the first of a three part series) that didnt leave me feeling completely empty...

Think LoTR:FotR, and not batman the original series...

But thats my news...

Gnight
